Although we do have mosquitoes, which are particularly prevalent in summer, Klaarstroom is a Malaria free area.
Vodacom, Cell C, Telkom and MTN all provide coverage in and around Klaarstroom. WiFi is also available at the hotel.
Summer: Sunscreen, hats, and light, comfortable clothing are advised.
Winter: Klaarstroom can get rather cold, so warmer clothes, scarfs, boots, and beanies are recommended. Always remember to pack insect repellent.
Prince Albert clinic is around 50km away and Oudtshoorn hospital is around 60km, or 45-60 minutes away.
Klaarstroom is home to a few spiders and snakes, most of which will leave you alone. Red Romans aka sun spiders, which look a little menacing but are harmless, can sometimes be seen prior to rain. Night adders are occasionally found under rocks.
There are plenty of hiking and cycling trails in the area, and a beautiful waterfall in the poort. Sunsets are amazing in Klaarstroom, so be sure to check them out. Our hotel can be accessed along the R407 highway from De Rust or from Prince Albert. You can also travel along the N12 from Beaufort West. Check it out on Google maps
